Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked chickpeas
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons water adjust for desired consistency
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions:
In a food processor, combine chickpeas, red onion, minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper
Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed
If the mixture is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed by adding more salt, pepper, or lemon juice
Transfer the houmous to a serving dish, and garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and toasted sesame seeds
Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a dip for your favorite snacks
